Carly Pearce Breaks Into Tears After Winning Female Vocalist At 2021 CMA Awards [Watch]
Carly Pearce took the female vocalist of the year award home at the 55th Annual Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards) held Wednesday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 31-year-old singer kissed her boyfriend Riley King before heading toward the stage and broke into tears. Even before she could start her acceptance speech, the crowd cheered her as she tried to hold back her tears.
She covered her mouth while crying and noted that she "really didn't think this was gonna happen." As Pearce continued to cry, singer Ashley McBryde - who was also present on the stage - came forward to address the audience.
"What she meant to say was, 'There's a lot of love, respect and admiration in this category,'" McBryde, 38, said.
Pearce, who took a step back from the mic, could be seen bursting into laughter along with the live audience. She then stepped forward again and told the audience that she had a "crazy year" and this award meant "everything" to her.
"Country music saved me at a time that I needed it," she added. "And I just want you guys to know that this is all I've ever wanted in the entire world and I just hope you know that country music is all I love, so thank you so much."
A Twitter user shared the footage of the singer receiving the award and giving the emotional speech.
"SHE DID IT! After the biggest year of her career, @carlypearce won “Female Vocalist of the Year” at the #CMAawards! So deserved. So proud," the user captioned the video.
Fans immediately took to the comments section to praise the singer for her success and hard work while many fans noted how McBryde stepped forward to help Pearce in the emotional moment.
Pearce also took to Instagram on the same day to thank CMA Award. "Country music saved me at a time that I needed it most. This is all I’ve ever wanted. Thank you," she captioned her own photo with a crying emoji.
On the work front, Pearce dropped her last studio album titled, "Every Little Thing" in October 2017. The music album featured 13 tracks including "Hide The Wine," "You Know Where To Find Me" and "Dare Ya."
