Carly Rose Sonenclar's 'X Factor' Performance Echoes Shock Of Susan Boyle's Audition [VIDEO]
Last week on “The X Factor” viewers got a treat when they were introduced to 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar, who sang Nina Simone's “Feeling Good” during the Providence, R.I., audition.
After being posted for about a week, a YouTube video of Carly has gained millions of views and thousands of likes and comments from viewers.
The girl oozed confidence as she sang on stage with a nearly perfect pitch. The audience, including every single one of the judges, rose from their seats to applaud the hopeful contestant.
Earlier in the video, Carly said that even though her mother is a graphic designer and her father is a copy editor, she wants to be a star. She also hoped that judges Demi Lovato and Brittney Spears were impressed with her singing since she related to the female singers most.
“Honey, you may be 13 but your soul is old,” judge L.A. Reid told Carly after she had finished singing. Nearly from the moment she began, was impressed, exclaiming, “What?” in the beginning of her performance.
When judge Simon Cowell said that there must be someone singing behind her, she said, “I promise it’s me.”
Cowell was nearly smitten when he looked up at the Westchester County, N.Y., native and told her “I like you."
Probably one of Carly’s favorite comments came from Disney star Demi Lovato, who told her "I want to buy your music" and “I’m obsessed.”
After she had finished singing all the judges agreed that she was the best contestant they had seen all night.
Reid, who commended the young girl’s ability to bring soul into the song said, “she has dimples, she’s a star.”
Carly shocked “The X Factor” judges similarly to how “Britain’s Got Talent” judges were overwhelmed by Susan Boyle.
Even though Carly is arguably cuter than the rough-around-the-edges Boyle, almost no one was expecting for such a powerful voice to come out of such a little girl.
Sonenclar will most likely participate on “The X Factor” until the end.
