Carly Waddell Breaks Down Over Spending Christmas Without Kids And Ex Evan Bass
Carly Waddell is having a tough time enjoying the holiday season following her split from her husband Evan Bass. The “Bachelor in Paradise” alum became emotional in a YouTube video reflecting on the changes in her life.
Bass and Waddell met during Season 2 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” The former couple was married in 2017 and share two children, Charles “Charlie” Wolf, and Isabella “Bella” Evelyn.
In the new video, Waddell admitted she was struggling to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year because her children spent the holiday with their father. The video later shows her having some Christmas make-up time with the kids and her parents.
“Christmas is over. This is the part I was looking forward to the least because Evan came and got the kids and they’re gonna be so happy, and they’re gonna have so much fun, but Charlie has never slept at anybody else’s house before,” she explained.
“It’s not even like I’m worried about him, it’s just hard being away from him,” she said as tears began to fall down her face. “It’s so stupid. I just feel alone, honestly. … It’s just hard.”
Waddell found it difficult to accept that things will never be the same. “I know this is the new normal, but it just doesn’t feel normal. It feels awful,” she said.
“This is a weird week for me because, most of you know, Evan and I are getting a divorce. I don’t know how to do Christmas alone.”
This isn’t the first time Waddell has opened up to fans about her Christmas blues. She previously reflected on her emotional struggle under an Instagram photo of herself holding her children in front of a Christmas tree.
“Christmas Day isn’t what I had expected this year. The three of us. The new normal. Which feels incredibly abnormal, and actually very sad. A lot of you kind people have asked if I’m ok. And I want to say I am, but I’m not,” she wrote in the caption.
“I will be though. Today is the first day that both kids are staying at Evan’s house overnight. I feel like I’m missing a piece of my soul. But I’m thankful that it was a white Christmas, and I’m thankful the kids all get to be having a blast with their dad and brothers. They are feeling so loved. Thank you for checking on me. Love all of you.”
Waddell and Bass first announced their separation on Wednesday in a statement to People. “We have made the difficult decision to separate,” the pair said in a joint statement.
“We will always cherish our time together and continue to have the utmost respect for one another as we focus on what’s best for the future of our family. We greatly appreciate everyone’s love and support and kindly ask that you please respect our family’s privacy as we navigate through this.”
