Carmelo Anthony, La La Possible Divorce? How Much Is The Couple's Net Worth After Their Split

After several months of rumors, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and wife Alani "La La" Vazquez are reportedly separated. According to sources cited by website TMZ.com, La La no longer lives in the family home on the Upper West Side, but there is no word if the couple plan on divorcing or if there is a prenuptial agreement.

How the couple may potentially split their fortune could be one of the more curious personal finance stories of the year, as New York is an equitable division state. According to FindLaw.com, "each spouse owns the income he or she earns during the marriage, and also has the right to manage any property that's in his or her name alone."

"You know, I just don’t want to look at marriage as a business agreement,” La La reportedly told Uinterview in February 2014 on the topic of prenuptial agreements. “Now, in some situations I do understand where you may have to do that. So, I’m kinda on the fence on that, but you don’t want to go into a marriage just as a business relationship.”

Carmelo Anthony, who entered the NBA in 2003 with the Denver Nuggets, has earned a total of $201.1 million over his career, according to figures compiled by Spotrac.com. He is under contract for two more seasons at $26.2 million in 2017-18 and $27.9 million in 2018-19. He also earned $8 million in endorsements in 2015 from the likes of Nike, Jordan Brand, Foot Locker, IWC, Steiner Sports, Nickelodeon and others, according to Forbes.

After some tumultuous seasons with the Knicks, the 32-year-old could be on his way out of New York. There were rumors during the season that he could be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers to be united with longtime friend LeBron James.

La La made a name for herself as a television and radio personality and later transitioned into an acting career. In recent years, the 37-year-old Brooklyn native created a clothing and cosmetic line, as well as authored a New York Times Best Seller and produced a Broadway play.

In August 2015, Us Weekly reported that La La denied cheating on Carmelo with rapper Maino.

The couple were married in July 2010 and have one child, son Kiyan Carmelo Anthony, who turned 10 years old last month.
