Carol Vorderman Details Special Moment With Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II
Carol Vorderman, a former Countdown star, recently detailed her special moment with Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II from years ago.
While speaking with BBC Radio Wales, the 57-year-old said that she wore a necklace from Argos to a dinner with the royal, and the Duke of Edinburgh complimented her.
According to Vorderman, the necklace was a gift to her by her son Cameron. She wore it during a lunch at the Buckingham Palace. While there, the Countdown star saw Her Majesty and Prince Philip flirting and giggling with each other.
“It was absolutely wonderful and then he said to me in a very charming way: ‘Oh, what a delightful necklace you are wearing.’ I said, ‘Oh thank you, Sir,’ and I said my son bought it for me for my birthday last year and I said ‘He got it from Argos,’” she said.
Prince Philip seemed amused that Vorderman’s son loves the store. The star said that she’s not sure if Prince Philip was just being charming at that time by pretending to know the store or if he really did. Regardless if the Duke of Edinburgh knows the store or not, the Vorderman said that moment was still very special.
Back in 2000, she also opened up about her visit to the royal venue when she was awarded an MBE. In her 2010 autobiography “Carol Vorderman: It All Counts,” she said that preparing for her special day was so hectic that she forgot to bring her handbag.
As a result, the television presenter was left with no other choice but to carry her things in an old rucksack. Despite the mishap, Vorderman posed for pictures with her symbol of honor with so much pride in her eyes.
In related news, Prince Philip also made headlines this week after it was revealed that he never sleeps on the same cabin as the Queen while on board the Royal Yacht Britannia.
According to Writer Brian Hoey, the Queen and Prince Philip’s bed preference are quite different so they prefer to stay in separate cabins.
