Comedian Carrot Top may have been in Las Vegas this week performing his usual gigs at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, but if you consulted social media, you might think he was in handcuffs for helping"affluenza" teenager Ethan Couch evade police in Mexico. "Carrot Top" was trending on Twitter Thursday morning as photos circulated of Couch's mother, Tonya, being led by authorities through Los Angeles International Airport.

Tonya Couch was arrested and charged with a felony this week for fleeing the United States with her 18-year-old son, who received probation in 2013 after killing four people in a drunken driving accident. The case became infamous when his lawyers suggested Ethan Couch suffered from "affluenza," meaning he was spoiled and didn't realize the consequences of bad actions, ABC News reported.

The pair was found in Puerto Vallarta Monday. Ethan Couch had dyed his blond hair dark brown, but it was his mother's appearance that drew the Carrot Top comparison. Tonya Couch has bright red, curly hair, just like the famous comedian who has performed on shows like "The Tonight Show," "Glee" and "Family Guy," according to his website.

Jokes appeared on social media almost immediately:

Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, has taken a lot of heat for his appearance in recent years. The Huffington Post reported he denied having plastic surgery and using steroids. He also insists his hair color is natural, even if the style takes some work. "Mousse and gels and crap," Carrot Top said in a 2013 video. "Every five seconds, I'm putting something in there."

As for Couch, he's still in Mexico although his mother is not. Couch was granted a three-day injunction on his deportation, which could require weeks to process, the Associated Press reported. Once back in the U.S., Couch may face up to 120 days in jail, CNN reported.
