Carson Daly is sad about Blake Shelton leaving "The Voice" since they have already built a friendship on the show.

Daly got candid about how he felt about his co-star and pal Shelton leaving NBC's singing reality competition during their Halloween celebration. In October, Gwen Stefani's husband announced that season 22 would be his last.

"I hate it," Daly admitted to Entertainment Tonight. "He and I obviously developed a great friendship at 'The Voice.' I'm bummed, but I get it."

"When we started the show, we had no idea that it would be this successful," he continued. "We're on twice a year, it's a lot of work. We're lucky to have had him for so long because most musicians need to tour. He's got business things, we've got another show, "Barmageddon," that we did together. So there's a lot going on for him."

The "Today" host added that doing the show without the country singer "won't be the same." Shelton and Daly are the only two stars who have been part of the show since premiering in 2011.

"I don't know who I'm gonna eat my meals with now," he joked. "I'm just gonna have to get a cardboard cutout."

Daly, who has been hosting the show since it began, said he's "the last remaining one" and going down with "The Voice" ship. He believed the show would "be around longer than we will."

Shelton and his wife, Stefani, met on "The Voice." When they tied the knot in July 2020, Daly officiated their wedding. Daly opened up about his role at the wedding, saying it was "very, very special."

"It was incredible to be a part of such an important moment in their lives. The ceremony was a perfect blend of country and glamour, of course, just like Blake and Gwen," Daly said about the celebrity couple's big day, People reported. "The wedding, the best way to describe it, is it was perfectly them the whole weekend and the marriage itself. It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is, and it was [as] country and down-home and fun as Blake is."

Shelton announced his departure from the show on Oct. 12 on Instagram. The "God Gave Me You" singer said, "It's time for me to step away from 'The Voice' after next season."

"This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me," Shelton wrote. "It's been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at 'The Voice' from NBC, every producer, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week."

Shelton also acknowledged the special people he met on the show, including Carson and his wife.

"I've made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani!"
