Carter Oosterhouse’s ABC Christmas Show To Still Air Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
Carter Oosterhouse’s show, “The Great Christmas Light Fight,” will still air on ABC despite the sexual assault claims thrown at the HGTV host.
A rep for the network released a statement to People and said, “The finale, which was taped earlier this year, will air as scheduled on Monday evening. No further information to share at this time.”
Oosterhouse is a host and judge on the reality TV competition. He works alongside Taniya Nayak. “The Great Christmas Light Fight” follows neighbors as they compete to decorate their homes in the nicest and most lavish ways. The winner will receive $50,000.
Meanwhile, Oosterhouse was accused of sexual misconduct by his former makeup artist, Kailey Kaminsky. She told The Hollywood Reporter that Oosterhouse made sexual advances at her while they were working on “Carter Can.”
“He’s like, ‘You know what would be a good idea? If you went down on me.’ I was shocked – it was so random. I said, in my sarcastic way, ‘Well, that’s not sexual harassment at all.’ He said, ‘I just think it would be fun.’ I made it clear that I did not think it would be fun. Still, I thought he was just goofing around,” she said.
Despite her refusals, Oosterhouse continued to request oral sex from Kaminsky. Eventually, she and Oosterhouse had a sexual relationship after he told her that it was the only way she could stay employed.
Following Kaminsky’s shocking revelations, Oosterhouse released a statement and said that he had an actual relationship with the makeup artist several years ago. As such, everything that happened between then was consensual.
“It was 100 percent mutual and consensual. In no way did I ever feel, nor was it ever indicated to me, that Kailey was uncomfortable during our intimate relationship. I would have never done anything that I was not sure was mutually agreeable,” he said.
Oosterhouse is now married to Amy Smart, and they also have a daughter named Flora. The couple tied the knot in 2011. As of late, Smart has not released a statement regarding the issue.
