Casey Anthony Trial: Jurors to Begin Deliberations on Independence Day
Jurors in the Casey Anthony murder trial will hear prosecutors' final arguments on Monday after both prosecutors and the defense made arguments on Sunday.
Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of murdering her two-year old daughter Caylee. If convicted she could face the death penalty.
We all know being a parent is about so much more than playing with your children, prosecutor Jeff Ashton said.
Being a parent is about sacrifice. When you have a child that child becomes your life, he added.
This case is about the clash between that responsibility...and the life that Casey Anthony wanted to have.
Casey Anthony decided on June 16th that something had to be sacrificed, Ashton said. She took (her daughter's) life and put her in the trunk (of her Sunfire car) and forgot about her, Ashton said.
Defense Attorney Jose Baez raised doubts about Anthony's father George Anthony.
He wanted to distance himself from the situation. He knew she was dead, he said.
He said more information could have been obtained if state authorities would have tracked his movements closer.
He also said the prosecution has not answered how Caylee died and what happened to her.
Those questions were never answered. That evidence was never presented, he said.
There are no mysteries to solve here ... if you have questions, it was not proven, Baez said.
