In an unexpected turn of events, Cindy Anthony quoted medical reasons for daughter Casey Anthony's behavior in the much-awaited Dr. Phil's show.

On July 17, Anthony was acquitted of the murder charges of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, who was found dead after she went missing for over a month. The mysterious circumstances under which Caylee's corpse was found, has still left a lot of questions unanswered.

Anthony's parents, who were the ones to first report their missing granddaughter, appeared on Dr. Phil's show-- their first interaction with the media since the trial.

In the first part of the interview, the couple described to McGraw the problems in their life as a married couple and about Anthony's behavior when Caylee went missing.

I'm not making excuses for her. I want to find out what's wrong with Casey. I know that there's something wrong, Cindy Anthony said.

She also said that it could be medical problems from gran mal seizures to a brain tumor to postpartum schizophrenia that could explain Anthony's cold-hearted behavior.

Cindy rhetorically questioned this caring young person who cared about everybody, loved kids and then all of a sudden something tragically happens to Caylee and Casey completely goes off the deep end?

Anthony's demeanor was undoubtedly unusual for a mother whose daughter had recently gone missing. All the while when Caylee was missing and probably already dead, Anthony never stopped partying, got a tattoo done and also lied about the whereabouts of her daughter.

Cindy said that Anthony could have possibly suffered a seizure and blacked out on the day Caylee died.

Cindy recollected Anthony having a seizure in November 2007 when her ex-fiance Jesse Grund had to call 911. She also mentioned another seizure that Casey suffered while at home on bail in 2008. Court documents show that he did call 911 to report that Anthony was having a seizure in November 2007.

I don't know why she's having a seizure. Does she have a brain tumor, were the seizures caused by stress? Cindy Anthony said.

George Anthony did not particularly comment or contribute to his wife's claims about the seizures during the interview.

Casey was taken to the hospital for seizures but doctors found no reason for the same, said Cindy Anthony. But then Anthony was never reported having a seizure during her three years in jail, ABCNews.com quoted a source as saying.

Attorney Wendy Murphy, a close follower of the Casey Anthony case suggested the possibility that Casey's parents might be trying to gain public sympathy for their daughter, now that she is one of the most hated people in America and she has nowhere to go in the eyes of the public, the Associated Press reported.

Cindy Anthony herself admitted to McGraw that she has a history of making excuses for her 25-year-old daughter. But then the couple told McGraw that they noticed a change in their daughter after Caylee's birth in August 2006.

George Anthony said that Anthony played her parents like fools with her lies and has stolen money from them. Anthony even stole from her grandmother, they said.

He took a stern stand in saying that Anthony was responsible for her daughter, no matter what. Caylee was last seen with her mother and for a month she pretended that her daughter was with friends or babysitter. He also said that it is possible that his daughter would have rode around with a dead Caylee in her trunk, the report said.

The couple further told McGraw how upset they were upon hearing that their granddaughter was missing, after believing for one month that she was with the fictional nanny. They were very angry but still when I saw the handcuffs on her...my heart was breaking...I didn't want to see my daughter taken to jail, said Cindy.

The couple was going through a rough patch in their relationship and was at the verge of a divorce from November 2005 to June 2006. During this time, George had moved out. But then when George moved back in later, Anthony grew upset about it. George said he grew suspicious of his daughter, but talking to her about it was difficult because of their fragile relationship. He recollected Anthony stealing gas from his car so as to keep her car going.
