Cassadee Pope, Rian Dawson Engaged? ‘The Voice’ Winner Shares News On Instagram
Love is definitely in the air as “The Voice” Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope announced on Twitter that she and her boyfriend of seven years, Rian Dawson, are finally engaged. The musicians, who started dating in 2010, announced the news on their respective social media accounts.
Pope shot to fame as the winner of “The Voice” Season 3 in 2012 after she competed under coach Blake Shelton’s team. Dawson, on the other hand, is the drummer and percussionist for the rock band, All Time Low, who’ll commence their U.K. tour soon.
The couple’s engagement news comes days before Pope is scheduled to attend the 2017 Grammys. According to E! News, Pope was nominated for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her duet with Chris Young, “Think of You.” Young even told People that Pope “flipped out” when he called her to deliver the news of their nomination.
Pope, on the other hand, told The Boot that she’s beside herself after she found out about the nomination. She also thanked “The Voice” for everything the show has done for her.
“It's crazy, I'm beside myself right now,” Pope said. “It's so amazing to be coupled in with all these incredible artists, and I get to go to LA to hang out with even more incredible artists. I have to thank ‘The Voice’ for everything they've done for me. The real work started after the show, so I'm really glad I stuck with it.”
As for the engagement, the couple confirmed the news on Friday evening. The happy news was posted on Dawson’s Instagram and Pope’s Twitter accounts.
“The love of my life is now OFFICIALLY the love of my life. Never been happier,” Dawson captioned their PDA-filled image on Instagram. Pope, on the other hand, wrote on Twitter, “WE'RE ENGAGED!!”
In an interview with Taste of Country last year, Pope opened up about her relationship with Dawson. Even though she failed to convince her beau to appear in her music video for “Summer,” the former “The Voice” champ revealed Dawson was so supportive of her.
“He’s first of all, is an amazing, amazing supporter of mine, and he has been since the beginning, since 6-and-a-half years ago before ‘The Voice,’ before everything,” Pope said.
