Stana Katic is back in the game after the unexpected cancellation of ABC’s “Castle.”

On Tuesday, Maberry Theatricals released the September roster of stars set to appear in “White Rabbit Red Rabbit,” which premiered in New York in March 2016. A number of big names in Hollywood have been pegged to take the reigns of the popular play, including Billy Porter, Justin Bartha and, of course, Katic. The “Castle” alumnae will take the stage at the Westside Theater in New York City, in September, according to Broadway World.

For those unfamiliar, “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” is a one of a kind production. The show features a rotating cast comprised of one actor at a time. The star takes the stage on their designated Monday — the only day theater lovers can catch “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” — after being handed the script for the very first time just moments before. A number of well-known performers have taken the stage for this unique show before including Whoopi Goldberg, Wayne Brady, Mike Birbiglia, George Takei and more.

ABC canceled “Castle” one week ahead of the Season 8 finale. The decision shocked fans of the show, which prompted a response from ABC president Channing Dungey. According to a tweet from Variety reporter Debra Birnbaum, Dungey discussed the show’s end during the Television Critics Association’s press tour on August 4. Birnbaum wrote that Dungey told attendees ABC didn’t think ordering a ninth season of “Castle” was “the right thing to do.” He went on to explain that the decision to cancel came not long after Katic’s departure from the show in April.

“We were always very up-front with the studio and the producers about the possibility that we might not be bringing the show back for Season 9, but the studio has to do what they need to do in order to prepare for the possibility of Season 9. So they did what they felt they needed to do in order to be ready if they did get the not,” he said explaining the show’s parallel story lines.

Katic left the show in April. At the time, Deadline reported that she hadn’t been given the option to renew her contract. Katic did not expand on that, telling fans she did not want to “distract from what was an amazing experience.” in closing, she thanked the network as well as the show’s loyal fans for many great years.
