'Castle' Season 7 Spoilers: Why The Wedding Will Happen In Episode 6 [VIDEO]
There will be no fake-out this time. “Castle” has a wedding planned on Monday, and executive producer David Amann swears it’s for real. Though episode 6, “The Time of Our Lives,” begins with an alternate reality where the crime writer has never met his fiancé, the episode will end with Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) tying the knot. Speaking to TV Guide, Amann explained how the much-anticipated episode will go from the two never having met to saying vows.
Fans already know that the alternate reality will be Castle’s inspiration to make it happen sooner rather than later. Amann explained further what the character will be feeling as a result of the warped reality.
"We've always been looking for the right version of the story and the right reason to tell it, and we think we found it this time," Amann said. "Castle is experiencing a version of his life had he not met Beckett, and it's considerably less rich. There's a lot of fun with him trying to make sense of this world that he's in, trying to figure out a way out of it, but at the end of the day there's a realization that he really wants to move forward, and he wants to do it now."
While Amann would not give too much detail on the nature of the alternate reality universe, he did say that the characters’ lives would be very different. For example, Castle will not have written the “Nikki Heat” series (having not met Beckett for inspiration), radically altering the course of his career. Martha (Susan Sullivan) and Alexis’ (Molly Quinn) stories will change a bit as well.
So, if a alternate reality where Castle sees life without Beckett causes the writer to want marriage, what causes the alternate reality? Amann says the explanation might be a bit supernatural.
“He's investigating a case that turns out to be related to a missing object which may or may not have mysterious properties to it,” he told TV Guide.
It should be a busy episode of “Castle” Monday, Nov. 10, but fans should not be disappointed. Plus, the week after, on Nov. 17, the show will follow the wedding with some honeymoon fun (Old West style!). “Castle” airs on Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
