All “Castle” fans can talk about is what Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) will do when the ABC series returns for Season 8. Will she run for State Senate or will she stay on the force? Well, in all of the hoopla over Beckett, fans did not even notice that another character on the show was expecting! Yes, Kevin (Seamus Dever) and Jenny (Juliana Dever) Ryan are having another baby.

"We have some exciting news for the Ryan family: They're expecting another kid," new co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter told TV Guide. Winter also teased how the new baby will shake things up in the precinct.

"Ultimately, [the new baby] is going to make Ryan even more paranoid and more excited about trying to make more money,” said Winter. “When he sees Beckett rising up in the ranks, the boys realize it's time for them to start looking at their futures, which is going to create some tension and conflict between them."

By boys, Winter means Ryan and partner Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas). Apparently, the pair have some insecurities about Beckett’s burgeoning career.

In the Season 7 finale Beckett was told she had been vetted to run for New York State Senate. Viewers were left wondering if the detective would give up working cases with her new husband, writer Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion), to become a politician. While fans learned earlier in August that Beckett will ultimately decline the offer, she will be getting a nice promotion. In Season 8 Esposito and Ryan will have to refer to their colleague as Captain Kate Beckett.

Will Beckett’s success drive a wedge between Ryan and Esposito? How will the new baby affect things? Fans will have to wait to find out. "Castle" Season 8 premieres Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
