‘Castle’ Season 8 Spoilers: Will Beckett Die? Promo Video Teases Stana Katic’s Last Episode
“Castle” has to have an epic sendoff in the Season 8 finale. The episode will be the end of Stana Katic’s run as Kate Beckett, and audiences are waiting to see how the ABC drama will explain her exit. The promo video for episode 22 hints that there could be a tragedy coming.
In the trailer, Mr. Flynn (Jed Rees) holds Castle (Nathan Fillion) hostage. “Kate Beckett is going to be dead by the end of the night, and there is nothing you can do about it,” Flynn says.
Beckett and Castle are also seen in a shootout. The detective realizes that they’re in a trap. The video cuts back to Flynn, who tells Castle, “Everything ends in tragedy, even an epic love story like yours.”

“Castle” did not ask Katic to return for a possible Season 9, which Fillion has signed on for. Deadline reported that her exit was due to budget cuts.
Katic did not comment on why or how she was leaving the drama after eight years as the leading lady. “Rather than distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much-beloved show,” Katic said in a statement. “Thank you to the fans.”
Writers also wouldn’t reveal exactly how Beckett will leave in episode 22, titled “Crossfire,” but executive producer Alexi Hawley promised that someone would die in the finale. “There’s death in every episode,” Hawley told Entertainment Weekly. “We don’t want to get into that too much. There’s definitely danger.”
In the finale, Beckett and Castle will be in trouble when their plan to take down LokSat goes wrong and puts their lives in danger. Other characters might be in trouble too since Katic isn’t the only person who needs to be written out of the finale. Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie Parish, will also be leaving. Could she die in this episode? Viewers will have to tune in to find out.
The “Castle” Season 8 finale airs Monday, May 16, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
