As more and more reviews pour in about “Cats,” the more it becomes apparent to many that this attempt at adapting the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic was a misfire with critics. While there are some who have indeed enjoyed the film, there’s no denying that reviewers feel strongly about it -- and the “Cats” marketing team feels strongly about reviewers--or at least they’re pretending to be.

The marketing team in charge of advertising the film and ultimately getting ticket sales up are now targeting negative reviews of this film and calling those reviewers “wrong” in a newly released ad. According to Screen Rant, some of those reviewers rate the film as so bad that they compared it to “The Human Centipede.”

The exact phrasing of the new “Cats” ad states: “There are those who like cats… and those who are wrong” and it’s undoubtedly targeting those who are not fans of the film.

The joke is in reference to actual cats and how you’re either into them or you’re not, of course, and there isn't really a feud between the movie reviewers or with anyone that takes issue with the adaptation. The “Cats” marketing team is likely just being playful and using the press to their advantage.

“Cats” is a film that was meant to gather $100 million but is only expected to accumulate $15 million instead. While the film is still in theaters, the “Cats” marketing team is doing everything they can to earn the respect of its potential viewers and get their ticket sales up. Their statement in the ad shows a lot of self-awareness while poking fun at the attitude of the film.

So while there’s no actual feud or any apparent negative resentment towards poor reviews. Instead, “Cats” continues to gracefully dance into the dark, no matter how much it doesn’t seem to be connecting with audiences.
