CBOT, Reuters Agree to Derivatives Trading Deal
The Chicago Board of Trade, a large derivative exchanges board announced on Monday a deal with Reuters Group plc to provide access to CBOT markets via Reuters.
The venture will allow an estimated 120,000 Reuters users to trade on its electronic-CBOT via Reuters Trading for Exchanges, an electronic trading system. Preparations for the start of the campaign will start on September 26 with a New York customer-based launch event, followed by similar events in London and Hong Kong over the next two months. However, the formal launch of Reuters Trading for Exchanges is expected in the early part of the fourth quarter later this year.
"This partnership represents a breakthrough in convenience as traders will gain more flexibility in the ways they access trading opportunities at the CBOT,' said Robert D. Ray, Senior Vice President of Business Development at CBOT.
The service will allow customers to access e-cbot through a variety of broker dealers available on the trading service. Broker dealers involved in the project will be given the opportunity to access and market their services to a vast buy-side community.
