CBS Films has named Scott Shooman Executive Vice President of Acquisitions. It was announced today by President and CEO Amy Baer.

Shooman will be responsible for the studio’s acquisitions operations. He will report to CBS Films COO Wolfgang Hammer, who commented, "Scott has a great eye for commercially viable, high quality films like Insidious. He also possesses a deep passion and healthy aggressiveness for working with filmmakers. Simply put, we’re incredibly excited to welcome him to the team."

Shooman joins CBS Films following a decade at Sony Pictures where he rose to Vice President of Acquisitions and Productions. In addition to the smash hit Insidious, Shooman oversaw a number of acquisitions including Hanna, Machete and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

CBS Films’ Amy Baer added, “acquisitions are an important part of our strategy and the addition of Scott gives us new energy and strength.” Earlier this year CBS Films released The Mechanic starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster. The film debuted #1 across DVD and Blu-ray charts in May. Acquisitions slated for release in 2012 include the Jane Goldman-scripted, James Watkins-directed The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe and Gambit starring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman. Michael Hoffman directed Gambit from a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen.

Shooman received his BA from USC School of Cinema Television. He is currently working on his MBA at the USC Marshall School of Business. His first broke into the industry as assistant to VP of Acquisitions, Benedict Carver, at Screen Gems.
