Celebrities And Coronavirus: 'Mallrats 2' Actor Kevin Smith Said COVID-19 Will Be Part New Movie
Kevin Smith announced that he will be hosting a live watch party of the classic “Mallrats” movie on Facebook. The man of many talents said that all proceeds of the social media livestream will go into helping
According to USA Today, Smith said that he would very much like to do it. When asked about whether he would personally host it, he answered “Hanging out with a bunch of people that like my old movies? That’s all I ever do.”
Scheduled to stream Monday, “Mallrats” screening is part of “Focus Movie Mondays,” an entertainment initiative by Focus Features where the production outfit will be streaming a film from its library for free.
Smith also took the time to reveal that he has been working on a sequel with the title “Twilight of the Mallrats.” He added that the mall epic “Mallrats” sequel will include the current crisis in some form, as it is “something that affects us going forward.”
Smith is going all-out on the cast this time. According to Movie Web, Bruce Campbell will be part of that project. The actor was rumored to have lobbied himself for a part in the sequel. In a Twitter post, Smith said that he was entering Act 3 on page 75 of his script. It was here that he announced a monologue in place for the “Evil Dead” star.

Smith was last seen in his "View Askew" character Silent Bob in 2019’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.” The new films will reunite him with stars Jeff Anderson, Brian O’Halloran and Jason “Jay” Mewes, aside from other returning casts.
