Celebrity Stylist Anita Patrickson Talks Dressing Julianne Hough And Ariel Winter For Primetime Emmys Red Carpet
Before the 2015 awards season comes to a close, the hottest celebrities in prime-time television will walk the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Sunday night for the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. International Business Times caught up with celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, who dished on dressing dancer, singer and actress Julianne Hough and “Modern Family” actress Ariel Winter for the big night.
Patrickson revealed that while she sometimes pulls together red carpet looks months before the event, she wanted to check out New York Fashion Week, which ended Sept. 17, to see what ideas she could gather. “At the end of the season you feel like you’ve exhausted all of the options, so it’s nice to have a kind of fresh start,” Patrickson told IBT. “Hopefully, we can find something kind of fun on the runway for Emmys.”
Even though the world won’t see Hough’s finished red carpet look until Sunday evening, the Los Angeles-based Patrickson teased that she wanted to do something different from the white DSquared2 gown the "Dancing With the Stars" judge wore at last year’s Emmys (photo below). “We did white last year, and she just got engaged, so we probably won’t do white this year, but we’re pretty open,” Patrickson said. “Every year, we’ve done something quite different for the Emmys.”
As for Winter’s red carpet look, Patrickson said she wanted to find something a little more mature for the almost-18-year-old actress. “Last year she did something a little sleeker,” Patrickson said, referring to Winter’s crop top Black Halo Eve gown (photo below). “I’m trying to get her away from being a teenager. [She’s at that age] when you’re kind of grown-up, but also she’s so young and fresh and gorgeous.”
“I’ve worked with both these girls so much and for so long that we’re in a pretty good place,” Patrickson added. “Neither of them are too highly strung.” The Texas-born stylist also dished about dressing model Chrissy Teigen in a risqué, high-slit black Marchesa gown for last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“Chrissy’s a fun one,” Patrickson said. “[The dress] was a little daring, which was really fun. She’s so great on the carpet, and she’s so confident. She’s really fun to dress. It was very glam ... it was a fun look.”
The Primetime Emmy Awards air Sunday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox. Patrickson is hosting her second International Style Institute in October. The three-day course, running from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4, provides aspiring stylists with an opportunity to learn about being assistants, preparing for shoots and more.
