Céline Dion’s Brother Daniel Only Has ‘Days Or Hours’ To Live After Battle With Cancer
Less that 24 hours after Céline Dion’s husband René Angélil died of throat cancer, reports are surfacing that the singer’s brother, Daniel Dion, is fighting cancer as well. Like Angélil, Daniel is said to have throat cancer, as well as brain and tongue cancer.
Claudette Dion, another sibling of the singer, confirmed to the Journal of Montreal that Daniel is currently hospitalized and surrounded by his family, including his 89-year-old mother, Therese.
“It’s a matter of days or hours,” she told the outlet.
“We are with Daniel, day and night,” she added. “He is 59 years old, very young to be the end of life.”
Céline Dion has not commented on the health of her brother, but a rep did confirm to Entertainment Tonight that the reports of his battle with cancer are true. Meanwhile, the superstar has canceled her performances at Caesars in Las Vegas following the death of her husband of 21 years. Angélil died Thursday morning after his own battle with throat cancer. It was his third bout with throat cancer, being first diagnosed with the illness in 1999. Funeral arrangements have not been released, but a service will reportedly be held in his hometown of Montreal. A “celebration of life ceremony” is said to be occurring in Las Vegas at a later date.
