Celtics Favored To Keep Winning Streak Going Against Hosting Hornets
KEY POINTS
- The Celtics will try to go for their seventh win when they visit the Hornets
- The Hornets are facing a tall order to get a win at home over the surging Celtics
- Boston holds the edge over Charlotte in their regular-season series
The Boston Celtics are rolling and another win appears to be within reach when they visit the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, January 16 at the Spectrum Center.
The C's are on a six-game winning streak, and unless the Hornets can come up with a well-rounded game against them, Boston is likely to register their seventh victory in a row.
In their last meeting, Boston rolled past Charlotte, 122-106.
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with a game-high 33 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Malcolm Brogdon also chipped in 30 points of his own, while veteran Al Horford contributed 16 markers, seven assists, and six rebounds.
"I think it's just this team's depth," Brogdon said. "We have a lot of really good players on this team and it is just a next-man-up mentality."
The Celtics hold the second-best offensive rating in the league today at 117.4. They are also ranked seventh defensively with a 110.8 defensive rating.
Looking at the injury report, Derrick White has been listed as questionable.
Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown has been ruled out due to right adductor tightness.
LaMelo Ball manned the losing cause of the Hornets with 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in their previous encounter with the Celtics.
Terry Rozier hauled 21 points and four rebounds in that match to lend a helping hand.
"Yeah, they shoot a lot of 3's, so there's definitely going to be long rebounds, so we've got to just get those," Ball said. "I feel like they were getting a lot of second chance, third chance, all that type of stuff, so it's going to be hard to win."
Offensively, the Hornets have an offensive rating of 115.6, 27th in the league.
Their defense also leaves a lot to be desired, owning a defensive rating of 108.9.
The only player listed as out for Charlotte against Boston is Gordon Hayward.
The Celtics are listed as -8 spread favorites, while the Hornets are at +8.
The moneyline is -344 for Boston and +270 for Charlotte.
The Hornets have their work cut out for them as they try to get even with the Celtics.
Game time is set for 1:00 PM ET with the match to be telecast via NBA TV. Live streaming is also available via fubo TV.
