The Boston Celtics recently confirmed the signing of Tacko Fall after the 7’6” center impressed during the summer league. He went undrafted in the 2019 draft but was offered a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract by the Celtics and he turned out to be a sensation in the summer league playing all five games while averaging 7.2 points and 4 rebounds.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was impressed with the University of Central Florida player and made it clear the team is very interested in his development. They negotiated a new deal after the summer league and announced him as part of four players that joined the team.

Fall is not part of the main roster yet but will have a chance to stake his claim to start the season in the NBA when training camp gets underway later in the year. And the Senegal-born star is getting all the help he can to get better and understand the needs in the NBA.

During a recent trip to his home country as part of an NBA contingent, he had a proper workout with Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid – arguably one of the best big men in the NBA at the moment – and Fall revealed that Embiid gave him some great pointers about the game and the league.

“We worked on pretty much a lot of work on the post, and every now and then he would stop and try to show me some things and try to tell me about the game in the NBA," Fall said, as quoted on NBC Sports Boston. “So I thought that was pretty cool, especially coming from him one of the best, if not the best center in the NBA right now.”

Embiid was not the only center mentoring Fall during his trip to Africa as he also got to meet NBA legend and 8-time All-Star Dikembe Mutombo. The young center took the opportunity to learn about life in the NBA especially being a player from Africa.

“He gives me advice, and he talked to me a lot about life in the NBA, especially as a player from Africa, like how you need to behave and carry yourself throughout the NBA. And he told me things about diet and workouts,” Fall added.
