CES 2017: Dell Announces XPS 27 AIO PC That Features 10-Speaker Audio System
Dell just announced the XPS 27 all-in-one (AIO) PC during CES 2017. The company’s new AIO sets itself apart from its rivals by having a unique focus on audio quality thanks to its 10 speakers.
The Dell XPS 27 houses four full-range drivers, two tweeters for highs, two radiators for delivering deeper bass and two down-firing speakers, according to Engadget. Audio setups on PCs are usually neglected by most manufacturers, and it looks like this is Dell’s way of delivering better audio quality on PCs in order for users to not buy separate speakers.
In a way, Dell appears to be delivering that “all-in-one” promise. The speaker setup on the XPS 27 was engineered in collaboration with Jack Joseph Puig, according to The Verge. Puig is known as a music engineer and producer who has worked with artists like John Mayer, Green Day, U2 and The Goo Goo Dolls. Dell claims that the speakers on the XPS 27 are two times louder than the ones found on the 27-inch Apple iMac and delivers 10 times the bass than the HP Envy 27.
The Dell XPS 27 isn’t just all about speakers, too. The new AIO comes with a 27-inch 3,840 x 2,160 4K InfinityEdge display. Users can also configure the PC to have a touch or non-touch display. The touchscreen version also comes with an articulating stand, so users can sit the display almost flat on a table similar to the Microsoft Surface Studio.
Underneath the hood, the XPS 27 is powered by a 6th generation i5-6400 or i7-6700 processor with the option to add AMD R9 M470X or M485X graphics. RAM can be configured up to 32GB, while storage can be maxed out with 2TB HDD + 32GB SSD or a 1TB SSD. All of these are packed right inside the display section similar to Apple’s design on the iMac, according to CNET.
The Dell XPS 27 is now available to order and pricing starts at $1,499. Opting for the the highest specs possible sets the price to $2,699.
