'The Challenge' 2020: Who Will Win 'Total Madness'? Ranking Season 35 Possible Winners
“The Challenge: Total Madness” is more than halfway over after nine episodes. Seventeen cast members are still vying to win the championship for the 35th season of MTV’s reality-TV series.
It’s not known how many contestants will split the $1 million grand prize or how many players will compete in the Final. The only certainty in “Total Madness” is that you aren’t eligible to run the Final unless you win an elimination round and earn a red skull.
Seven players currently own red skulls, giving them a clear edge over the rest of the field. A few of them are likely to be eliminated at some point before the Final, while other contestants still have to be considered among the favorites to finish in first place.
Some of the greatest competitors in “Challenge” history have already been sent home this season. Chris “CT” Tamburello and Tori Deal were both upset in Purgatory, the elimination round. Jordan Wiseley, who had won each of his last three seasons, was also eliminated from contention.
How does each remaining contestant stack up against the others? Here’s a ranking of every cast member, based on their chances of winning “Total Madness.”
1) Jennifer “Jenny” West
Jenny is the best female contestant remaining and arguably the top athlete in the entire house. She has a red skull and would be an odds-on favorite against anyone if she’s thrown back into elimination.
2) Rogan O'Connor
Don’t expect anyone to challenge Rogan in Purgatory after what he did to Jay. He was one of the four first-place finishers in his only full “Challenge” season and doesn’t seem to have a long list of enemies.
3) Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio/Wes Bergmann
With the two “Challenge” legends forming an unexpected alliance, there’s a good chance at least one of them will reach the Final, where betting against either Bananas or Wes would be unwise. The only problem is neither contestant has a red skull. I’ve got a feeling they might be forced to go head-to-head in Purgatory before all is said and done.
4) Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat
It’s hard to put any rookie higher than fourth on this list, though Fessy might have a clear path to the Final. No one is going to willingly face him in a physical elimination following his easy victory over Jordan in Purgatory.
5) Nelson Thomas
Nelson has quietly established himself as one of the best elimination competitors in “Challenge” history with just two losses in 12 tries. But he isn’t exactly the most well-liked member of the house and could find himself thrown into another elimination round.
6) Kaycee Clark
It’s still very much unknown how strong of a player Kacee is, but she’s got two very important things going for her: no enemies and a red skull. Kaycee was very impressive in eliminating Kailah.
7) Aneesa Ferreira
Aneesa owns a red skull and a reputation for being tough in eliminations. She also has no championships over her first 12 seasons.
8) Dee Nguyen
Of anyone that has a red skull, Dee is the most vulnerable. Dee’s top female ally (Jenny) knows she’s plotting against her, and her No.1 male ally (Rogan) said he wants to send her home.
9) Cory Wharton
Cory is a good athlete with multiple trips to the Final. He doesn’t have a red skull and is still searching for his first “Challenge” championship.
10) Mattie Lynn Breaux
In her only other season, Mattie went 1-0 in elimination and had to withdraw during the first leg of the Final. She was the only female not voted into Purgatory or forced to meet with the Tribunal last episode.
11) Christopher “Swaggy C” Williams/Bayleigh Dayton
I don’t know what to make of these rookies. The couple hasn’t been voted into elimination yet and has a level of protection because of their alliance with Wes.
12) Josh Martinez
Drama always seems to follow Josh, who’s likely headed for Purgatory soon. He has a career 0-2 record in eliminations.
13) Kyle Christie
Kyle has proven to be a good competitor in the past, but he hasn’t won a single challenge or elimination during “Total Madness.” His top ally might be the weakest contestant left.
14) Nany Gonzalez
Nany’s game took a major hit when both Jenna and Kailah were eliminated last episode. The lone remaining member of the Unholy Trinity is 3-8 in eliminations with no “Challenge” titles in nine seasons.
15) Melissa Reeves
Before “Total Madness,” Melissa only lasted six total episodes over the course of two seasons. She’d be the underdog in most elimination scenarios.
“The Challenge: Total Madness” episode 10 airs Wednesday, June 3 at 8 p.m. EDT on MTV.
