“The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines” cast is in for a major surprise during Wednesday’s episode. A veteran from the MTV competition show, Chris “CT” Tamburello, is due to make his highly anticipated appearance in episode 8.

In a sneak-peek video of the forthcoming installment, titled “Blood Is Thicker Than Mud,” CT can be seen making his grand entrance into the game. Unlike other “The Challenge” contestants, CT’s partner will not be a direct bloodline. He will be competing alongside Faith Brown, the sister of his late girlfriend and former "Challenge" competitor Diem Brown.

“Today’s a special day,” host TJ Lavin tells the contestants in the clip. When CT emerges, the cast can be seen with their mouth’s agape over his arrival. While everyone is shocked by CT’s cameo, it’s Johnny Bananas bloodline, his cousin Vince, who appears most perturbed by his arrival.

“I heard back in the day you and I might have been in competition,” Vince tells CT during a club night in the teaser.

“Back in the day you would have been knocked out,” CT responds.

While it appears CT’s arrival will definitely shake up the game, he may not be sticking around for the long haul. MTV’s synopsis for episode 8 reveals the veteran will appear on the show “to pay tribute to beloved challengers” who are no longer with us. Among those being paid tribute to are Diem, who lost her third battle with cancer in November 2014, and Ryan Knight, who died from an accidental overdose the following month. CT and Diem competed alongside one another on multiple seasons of the MTV series and dated for several years on and off-camera.

Season 27 of “The Challenge,” “Battle of the Bloodlines,” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on MTV.
