Charlie Hunnam On ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Sex: Erotic ‘Fifty Shades’ Scenes Are ‘Not A Problem’
While Charlie Hunnam’s “Fifty Shades of Grey’ costar Dakota Johnson has remained relatively silent since news broke that they would play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie adaptation of E.L. James’ best-selling erotic novel, the “Sons of Anarchy” star has revealed he’s perfectly OK with all the sex scenes that will most likely take place in the movie.
Metro.co.uk quoted an interview that the 33-year-old British actor had with the Associated Press, where he explained he wouldn’t be fazed by the risqué sex scenes since he’s already had to act out intimate moments in front of the camera when he was on the show “Queer as Folk” back in 1999.
“I starred in the British Channel 4 miniseries Queer as Folk, where I played a young, gay character, and there were some incredible, explicit sex scenes on that show,” the stunning actor said.
“Now I am 16 years older and more mature so I don’t anticipate them being too much of a problem. It’s like anything else, just an exciting challenge.”
It might be exciting for him, but his jewelry designer girlfriend Morgana McNelis probably isn’t looking forward to watching him as Christian Grey during the kinky sex scenes with Johnson. They have a good relationship and that “sharing” parts of him is just some of the territory that comes along with loving an actor, he previously said at the “Sons of Anarchy” season 6 premiere at the Dolby Theatre on Saturday.
Fans of the “Fifty Shades” series were originally thrown off when Hunnam was announced as Grey, partly due to his scruffy appearance on “Sons of Anarchy,” but with a nice shave and a few drops of hair dye the 33-year-old could turn out to become the Christian Grey fans always wanted.
