Charlie Puth has called on fans of K-pop group BTS to stop what he calls a "dangerous, toxic internet screaming match between 'fandoms.'"

Taking to Twitter on Sunday (July 5), Puth called out some members of BTS' fan ARMY for spamming some of his TikTok videos with comments saying that he used the K-pop group and its member Jungkook for fame and "clout."

Puth, who had performed a duet of "We Don't Talk Anymore" with BTS singer Jungkook at the MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards in 2018, however, praised the group for being "super talented" and said he does not understand why he was being targeted.

Addressing toxic fan culture, Puth added that unsavory comments from trolls would have hurt him "in a very negative way" a decade ago but not anymore. "It doesn’t really mean anything to me when some person I don't know writes a nasty message to me saying things like 'I used BTS for clout,'" he wrote.

Puth, however, noted that such harsh comments could affect the mental health of vulnerable people, especially children.

"It may sound cliche, but please be nicer to each other on here," he added. "No more screaming about made up nonsense. It does nobody any good. We all need to love each other MORE THAN EVER RIGHT NOW."

His tweet received a lot of love from many BTS fans, who praised the 28-year-old for handling the situation in a mature way.

BTS, the seven-member boyband from South Korea, was debuted in 2013, and over the years, has become a global sensation.

In January, BTS became the first K-pop group to perform at the Grammy Awards. The group also appeared in the virtual graduation event featuring Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Beyoncé in June.

In April, the group announced that their 2020 “Map Of The Soul” tour had been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, as a treat to fans, the group recently live-streamed its own “Bang Bang Con: The Live” event, which was watched by hundreds of thousands of people.
