Charlize Theron Writes Heartfelt Instagram Post To Celebrate Mom’s Birthday, Shares Photo Of Her Daughters
Charlize Theron took to Instagram on Thursday to celebrate the birthday of her mother, Gerda Jacoba Aletta Maritz, by sharing a slideshow of photos, which also featured her daughters -- August and Jackson.
In the first photo, the 46-year-old South African-American actress shared a black and white selfie clicked with her mother. In the next photo, Maritz could be seen wearing a grasshopper costume.
The next photo featured Maritz wearing a white bikini in her younger days, while in another picture, Theron planted a kiss on her mother's cheek. The mother and daughter duo could also be seen relaxing together on beach chairs, while enjoying their drinks.
In the last photo, Maritz posed with August and Jackson as they went hiking. Theron has mostly kept her daughters away from the public eye, and only rarely shares pictures of them on social media.
"Today is my moms birthday," Theron captioned the post. "I wanted to share her with all of you because anyone who knows her, knows how utterly awesome it’s to stand in her sunlight. She TRULY is life."
The "Mad Max: Fury Road" star further wrote her mother laughs louder than anyone she has ever come across, adding she was also great at playing tennis and golf. She also called her a hiker, and jokingly wrote how gifted she was when it comes to being a "sh-t talker!"
"She’s direct, she’s honest, she funny, and she’ll tell you how it is anytime of the day!" she concluded.
Celebs took to the comments section to share their wishes.
Actress January Jones wrote, "She’s the best! ❤ Happy Birthday G!!" Comedian Chelsea Handler commented, "Happy birthday, Gerda! To the most fun mama I have ever had the pleasure of getting shitfaced with!" Actress Mary McCormack commented, "Happy Birthday to this incredible human. Miss you."
Theron had adopted Jackson in March 2012 and August in July 2015.
On the work front, Theron will be next seen in a fantasy movie, "The School for Good and Evil," which is helmed by director Paul Feig and expected to release later this year. She will also feature in movies like "The Old Guard 2" and "Atomic Blonde 2."
