  • Chelsea is linked to a transfer swoop for Real Madrid's Eden Hazard
  • Hazard is dealing with another injury at the moment
  • Blues boss Thomas Tuchel comments about the ex-Chelsea star

After Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea could now be working on the possible return of another former star.

Chelsea managed to bring Lukaku back in the summer, and it appears that the Belgian’s addition to Thomas Tuchel’s squad has done the Blues well this season.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Chelsea is expected to bolster once again and one name linked to another return to Stamford Bridge is Real Madrid star Eden Hazard, Spanish outlet El Nacional reported.

With Lukaku at center-forward, the Blues’ current frontline is stacked with young and talented attackers composed by Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Timo Werner.

However, the report said that Chelsea is eyeing to add a veteran like Hazard as owner Roman Abramovich still sees him as a valuable signing, and a return to the English Premier League could boost the player’s confidence.

Moreover, the report also noted that informal talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over Hazard’s potential transfer have already been initiated.

Los Blancos, on the other hand, are reportedly open to letting the two-time Premier League champion in order to recoup some of the €115 million ($132 million) they had spent on him two years ago.

It can be recalled that Hazard was once the phenomenal superstar at Chelsea. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his fine form.

The 30-year-old made the switch to the Bernabeu and left Chelsea in the summer of 2019. Many believed that Hazard will be the new face of Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo having already left for Juventus the year prior.

However, the dilemma with injuries saw the Belgian midfielder failing to make a huge impact in the Spanish outfit.

In fact, he has only made just 51 appearances for Los Blancos, tallying an underwhelming five goals and nine assists in the process.

At the moment, Hazard is once again dealing with another injury as recent reports say that he picked up a “muscle overload” injury during Belgium's Nations League defeat to France on Thursday.

Despite being injury-prone, Hazard--amid all the rumors linking him to a return to Chelsea--is still commended by Blues boss Tuchel, seemingly hinting at his approval on the potential transfer.

"He is a top-quality player and a key player for many years at this club and this league, the hardest in the world," Tuchel said of Hazard. “ So consistent. I have the biggest respect for him. He is a big player, we have many people here who know him well.”

"He was a key player for this club now he plays for Real Madrid."
