Chelsea is reportedly planning to make a move for a struggling goal scorer who may become Timo Werner's co-star next season.

Frank Lampard’s side is one of the clubs aggressively pursuing additional talents ahead of the transfer window. After closing down the negotiations for Werner, the Blues are now said to be keen on signing Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic to further boost their attacking force.

The Daily Express reported that Chelsea is planning to make a move for the Serbian striker, who has struggled since arriving at Bernabeu. Jovic hasn’t been able to serve his primary purpose for Los Blancos and has only scored twice in 25 appearances.

The report further revealed that Madrid is now contemplating making Jovic available, and as per sources, the club is willing to let him go for around €35 million ($39.7 million), a price tag which has reportedly been gauged by Chelsea as bearable.

Madrid signed Jovic for around €60 million ($68 million). However, Los Blancos are reportedly now starting to think that their 22-year-old signing last summer turned out to be a flop.

Werner is one of the hottest prospects in Europe today. However, reports suggest that Chelsea still needs reinforcements in the attacking department, given that two of their attackers are set to leave. Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud are reportedly both bound to depart Lampard’s side this summer, with the latter being heavily linked to a move to Leeds United.

Teamtalk reported that Chelsea plans to add Jovic into the squad to pair up with Werner. The Blues would be giving Jovic a shot to prove himself, and the idea of a team-up with Werner may up the team’s goal-scoring next season.

Despite having already landed Werner, Chelsea has also been pursuing another German rising star, Kai Havertz. Lampard now has “two secret weapons” that he could capitalize to lure in the Bayer Leverkusen star, reports said. The Blues may also use their German contingent to talk Havertz into a move to Stamford Bridge.

It has been said that Lampard might take a step closer to signing Havertz with a little help from Antonio Rudiger and Werner as they can reportedly convince Leverkusen to deal away its rising star.

Chelsea has been a consistent suitor of Havertz and was even rumored to be prepared to sell as many as six players from the squad to make the deal happen.
