Romelu Lukaku hasn’t buried the hatchet yet with one of his former clubs.

Chelsea is looking quite phenomenal with the addition of Lukaku this season. A wide array of clubs was keeping tabs on the Belgian, but he opted to make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge.

Looking back at his transfer saga this summer, Lukaku revealed that Inter Milan did put an end to his dejection at Manchester United. However, after two seasons with Nerazzurri, he realized that he didn’t want to be with the club anymore.

"I didn't want to go behind Inter's back,” Lukaku exclusively told Dutch outlet HLN. “They got me out of the s--t. I was in a deep hole at Man United. After training I went to [Simone] Inzaghi's office. I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere because I was no longer with my head in Milan. So I asked him, ‘please find an agreement.’"

This wasn’t the first time the 28-year-old admitted that his unhappiness at Manchester United led to his move to Inter Milan.

In May, Lukaku bared that “things didn’t work anymore” and that he was already looking forward to trying “something different.”

Lukaku’s former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho had lifted the lid on the forward’s situation at the time.

According to Mourinho, though Lukaku was physically “big” and “strong,” he was still a “kid” who needed “love” and “support.”

"At Chelsea, he [Lukaku] was still a kid,” Mourinho, who also coached Lukaku at Chelsea, told The Times in June. “At Manchester United, he was still developing. At Inter he became the top man. He became loved - a big love from the supporters, love from teammates, great relations with the coach.”

"He's a big guy, physically so strong, but there is also a kid inside who needs that love, needs that support, needs to feel important," he added.

This season is already Lukaku’s third spell with Chelsea. Under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, the prolific goalscorer seems to have finally found the perfect squad.

“Romelu’s a very smart guy and a very democratic leader,” Tuchel said after Lukaku’s Chelsea debut against Arsenal. “He was dangerous throughout. There’s room for improvement and we need to work on details but it was a very good debut.”

“I certainly think that nobody likes to play against him, everyone is aware of his physicality and his link-up play and ability to attack the space,” the manager pointed out. “He gives another dimension to our game. He’s got the whole package; he was always a Chelsea fan whose dream was to make it here.”
