Chelsea Transfer Rumor: Blues, Manchester City Targeting Slovakian Sensation?
If the latest rumors are to be believed, Premiership giants Chelsea and Manchester City are looking to bring in Italian Serie A side Napoli's Slovakian attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik as soon as the transfer window opens in the summer.
The player earned recognition following his successful stint after he moved to Italy with Brescia in 2004 from Slovak Super Liga side Slovan Bratislava and later moving to Napoli in 2007. However, other reports have revealed that Hamsik is happy at Napoli and is not looking to move anytime soon.
The Slovakian midfielder, who is also the club's current vice-captain, previously told Sky Sports Italia that he loves the Napoli shirt and has already signed a new five year deal with the club last month that will keep him at the club till 2016. He added that he is not looking to shift bases and his happy with his current situation.
Both Chelsea and City have been linked to the player quite a number of times in the last season and now the rumors have surfaced yet again with the season coming to a close. Hamsik's talent combined with experience can be a welcome addition to both the teams' roster as both have failed miserably in the midfield department in the current season.
Apart from Chelsea and Manchester City, French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in bringing the player, according to a Tribal Football report.
Marek Hamsik, who arrived at Napoli from Italian side Brescia in 2007, has made as many as 175 appearances for the Stadio San Paolo-based side in all competitions and has also managed to find the back of the net 50 times.
The midfielder has also represented Slovakia 52 times thus far.
