Chelsea’s $40M Star In Talks With Premier League Rivals Man City Amid Interest From PSG

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly in talks with a few top European clubs, including Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Rudiger, whose current Chelsea deal is due to end in the summer of 2022, is most likely to land in either Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to Italian sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who has a credible record in transfer markets.

"Rudiger is in talks with Juventus, Man City, Tottenham and even PSG, who still need a defender. It’s difficult to see him signing a new contract. He will join one of the four teams mentioned," Di Marzio told German media outlet Wetten Freunde.

While Chelsea have not reached an agreement yet with Rudiger over a new contract, Bayern Munich are interested in signing the German center-back, according to Sports Illustrated.

It has also been reported that Real Madrid are also monitoring Rudiger’s contract situation at Chelsea. Los Blancos are still suffering from the pandemic’s aftermath and are not looking to spend much in the transfer market. Real Madrid are looking to either secure a free transfer for Rudiger or a cut-price deal in January.

It is understood that Rudiger, who moved from Roma to Chelsea in 2017 at a fee of $40 million, is frustrated with the salary Chelsea have offered so far and their lack of effort to offer him a deal he thinks he deserves.

It has also been reported that Chelsea are looking to land Pau from Villarreal, who is considered an ideal replacement for Ramos at Real Madrid.

Manchester City have shown interest in Rudiger despite being loaded with defenders unless the Etihad side is looking at the Chelsea star as a replacement for someone like Aymeric Laporte.

Chelsea thrashed Norwich Cit 7-0 in the Premier League on Saturday and with 22 points, the Blues are at the top of the table.

By scoring five goals against Manchester United, Liverpool now have a superior goal difference but still are a point behind the leaders, Chelsea in the 2021-22 Premier League table. With 20 points in nine matches, reigning champions Manchester City are at the third spot.
