Chelsy Davy Launches Ethical New Jewelry Line Called AYA In London
Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy launched her own ethical jewelry line AYA at Baar and Bass in London on Tuesday. The 30-year-old’s jewelry line has been inspired by Africa. Her collection includes delicate rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
The blonde beauty’s jewelry features colorful gemstones sourced from all over Africa. The price of the AYA range starts from around 580 pounds (about $777). The former finance lawyer was born and raised in Zimbabwe.
Chelsy founded AYA after exploring her homeland to learn more about its cultures and traditions. Her new jewelry line has been inspired by her childhood in Zimbabwe. “Africa has always been an integral part of my life and will always be my home. It is an absolutely fascinating continent and I was inspired by its rich culture and the bold and vibrant nature of African design,” she said in a statement.
Harry’s ex-girlfriend studied at the Gemological Institute of America to learn more about gemstones. She also developed a strong passion that led her to launch AYA. Chelsy said that she wanted to do something different and showcase the beautiful colored gemstones in modern and contemporary jewelry designs.
The Zimbabwean beauty said that the gemstones were so beautiful that diamonds were not needed in her new jewelry line. She added that she was obsessed with colored gemstones and would love to work with such stones from whole of Africa. All the pieces of jewelry are of 18-carat gold sourced through ethical mining.
Chelsy’s AYA line sources emeralds from Zambia and rubies from Mozambique. The blonde is currently focused on growing her jewelry business. She divides her time between Zimbabwe with family, her mine in Zambia and her home in Chelsea, West London.
The former lawyer was supported by her longtime friend Princess Eugenie at her jewelry launch. Both the ladies looked stunning at the event which was attended by several celebrities. In spite of her split from Harry, she and Eugenie have remained friends.
