‘Chesapeake Shores’ Season 3 Premiere Recap: Trace And Abby Reunite
It’s been almost a year since the “Chesapeake Shores” Season 2 finale aired on Hallmark Channel, but Season 3 of the series picked up only three months later. This first new episode of the drama features reunions, realizations and romances.
Let’s break it all down and recap everything that happens in the Season 3 premiere of “Chesapeake Shores.”
Abby and Trace
The episode kicks off with fans finding out that Abby’s (Meghan Ory) been spending some more time with Douglas (Victor Webster), both because his son’s friends with her kids and because they were working together. It was clear last season that he liked Abby and that’s still the case this time around.
“It was an absolute delight working with you,” Douglas says to Abby partway through the episode. “Hopefully our paths cross again soon.”
Unfortunately for him, she loves Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), who is back in town. After months away on tour, he has returned to Chesapeake Shores, where he’s set to spend his three-week break. As soon as Trace walks through his front door, he finds the place decked out with beautiful lights, candles and a fire in the fireplace, with Abby right there waiting for him. She wasn’t the only one with surprises, though, as he reveals he bought her and her girls some cowboy boots.
“I’m back now, and nothing’s changed,” he says after giving her the gifts. “So let’s just enjoy the time we have together. Twenty-two days, 14 hours and 11 minutes.”
“That is why I’ve made an incredibly thorough list of all the things we can do in that time,” she replies.
“What’s first,” he asks after a little banter.
She answers him with a kiss.
“Let’s just keep doing that,” he says when they break apart for a second.
Sadly, things aren’t as simple as that. The two are so excited to start spending uninterrupted time together, but Trace’s growing fame makes that difficult. When they are having a nice walk around town, Trace gets mobbed by screaming girls asking for his autograph. He obliges, but Abby’s face in the background reveals exactly how she feels about it all. She’s happy for him, but she doesn’t want to have to share him with the world.
To make matters worse, Trace is being interviewed by Nashville Country Magazine about his music, except the reporter doesn’t want to only talk about his career. The interviewer keeps trying to talk about Trace’s relationship with Abby, but he repeatedly shuts him down.
“They’re off-limits,” Trace tells the reporter.
Despite it all, Trace and Abby enjoy themselves at the latest town festival, with Abby’s girls taking a lot of photos of themselves and everyone else, before joining Trace and Abby by the campfire.
Jess and Bree
With David (Carlo Marks) still away, Jess (Laci J Mailey) is trying to keep busy at her bed and breakfast. Seeing all the lovebirds staying at the place makes that a little hard, though. Instead of the feeling of longing, Jess switches things up and starts to feel anger, after discovering Bree’s (Emilie Ullerup) manuscript.
She left it on the kitchen counter by accident, and Jess starts reading it because curiosity got the best of her. She immediately realizes that her sister was writing about her and her story.
Mad, Jess confronts Bree about the manuscript, but not directly. She finds Bree and Nell (Diane Ladd) together and asks Nell to repeat everything she says, so she doesn’t have to actually speak to Bree.
Kevin and Sarah
After deciding last season what he finally wanted to do career-wise, Kevin (Brendan Penny) starts his paramedic field training. He’s still with Sarah (Jessica Sipos) and the two go on quite a few dates in this premiere episode. Though it’s clear they are both really enjoying their time together, Kevin tells Connor (Andrew Francis) he’s worried about going too fast with her because he doesn’t want to make the same mistake he did with his ex-fiancée.
Mick and Connor
While they are on opposite sides of a legal battle, Mick (Treat Williams) is proud of how well Connor is doing, which is why he tries to let his son know when he finds a giant error in their negotiation paperwork.
It’s not legal for Mick to flat-out tell him, so he just repeatedly asks Connor to look over the paperwork some more. However, his son doesn’t want to listen. In the end, Mick and Douglas get the better deal because of the mistake Connor makes. Despite it being his own fault, Connor blows up at his dad for not warning him, even going so far as to tell Kevin that he’s going to move out of his dad’s house.
Thinking Connor was trying to sue him for something, Mick is confused when he’s served paperwork by someone at the festival. It turns out, however, that the papers are not from Connor, but the estate of James Nelson. When he opens up the folder, there are documents about a boat and a marina. What exactly does this all mean to Mick? Chessies will have to wait to find out.
“Chesapeake Shores” airs on Hallmark Channel on Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT.
