After several years of dismal performances in the Nascar Cup Series Chevrolet, announced Thurssay that next year its teams would run at who the brand new Camaro Camaro ZL1 1LE.

The automotive manufacturer called the new Camaro the fastest, most track-capable production Camaro ever. This change may have come a year too late though as the Camaro replaced the Impala for the 2018 Nascar Cup series season.

According to Chevrolet's U.S. vice president of performance & motorsports, Jim Campbell, they took lessons from the production car and applied it to the new 2020 Cup car. The latest contender will have optimized aerodynamic performance.

The 2018 season looked very promising for Chevrolet -- it started by winning the pole position for the Daytona 500 and followed it with a win a week later. But following that showing, Chevrolet only placed three victories last season.

Chevrolet has fared slightly better this season, notching up seven wins. Chase Elliott won three races; Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson each won a race, Alex Bowman and Justin Hailey all won a single race each. Carson and Elliot are the only Chevrolet drivers who made the 2019 NASCAR playoffs.

Chevrolet is no stranger to the Winner's Circle as they have won a record 39 NASCAR manufacturer championships, including 13 consecutive titles from 2003 to 2015 with Jimmie Johnson being their primary driver for Hendrick Motorsports during that time.

Johnson tied the record for Cup wins with seven victories, the last being in 2016. Chevrolet has not fared very well since then. If they hope to keep pace on the track, they're going to have to make some changes and this new ride looks to be the cream of the crop.
