Chicago Bears News: Trubisky Could Miss Giants' Game, Schedule Could End Vikings' NFC North Chances
The Chicago Bears are well on their way to the playoffs, despite an injury to their starting quarterback. Even with Mitchell Trubisky’s status up in the air for Week 13, the team is a significant road favorite.
Chicago is laying 4.5 points in their upcoming contest against the New York Giants, according to OddsShark. Head coach Matt Nagy has not named a starting quarterback, and the Bears could decide to start Chase Daniel one more week. The Bears are in a comfortable position with a 1.5-game lead in the NFC North, and there’s a good chance they’ll get closer to clinching a playoff spot Sunday because of the upcoming schedule.
The Minnesota Vikings face a tough road test against the New England Patriots Sunday. A loss for Minnesota and a win for Chicago would give the Bears a 2.5-game lead in the division with just four games left to play. The Green Bay Packers should defeat the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, though Green Bay will only finish with nine victories if they somehow manage to end the season on a five-game winning streak.
Daniel was more than competent on Thanksgiving, going 27-37 for 230 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a 106.8 passer rating. Chicago beat the Detroit Lions on the road 23-16 behind arguably the NFL’s best defense, and the unit can carry them against the last-place Giants.
It might behoove the Bears to rest Trubisky one more week to make sure he’s completely healthy for the final month of the regular season. Chicago hosts the 10-1 Los Angeles Rams in Week 14, and they’ll welcome Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to Soldier Field in Week 15. After visiting the 2-9 San Francisco 49ers, who are tied for the league’s worst record, in Week 16, Chicago will visit Minnesota in the season finale.
Minnesota will visit the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 in another tough road matchup. They'll host the Miami Dolphins and visit the Detroit Lions in the following two weeks.
The Bears are 3-1 in the division. They beat the Vikings at home and lost to the Packers at Lambeau Field.
Trubisky has completed 65.4 percent of his passes this season. The quarterback has thrown 20 touchdown passes and nine interceptions for a 97.7 passer rating.
Chicago ranks second in both points allowed and opponents’ yards per play.
