‘Chicago Med’ Season 2 Spoilers: 5 Things To Know About The Season Finale ‘Love Hurts’
“Chicago Med” ended on a shocking note last week. Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) used all the legal help he could find to get his girlfriend Robin Charles (Mekia Cox) out of the hospital’s psychiatric ward. His intentions may have been noble, given that his mom committed suicide, but it blew up on his face when Robin became worse. The NBC series ended with the Dr. Daniel Charles’s (Oliver Platt) daughter locking herself in the balcony and crying hysterically. Will she jump or hurt herself?
This week, “Chicago Med” airs its Season 2 finale which means the show will wrap up several storylines including Robin’s. Here are five things to know about episode 22, titled “Love Hurts”:
1. Synopsis
The official synopsis states that a new hotshot doctor arrives at Chicago Med and competes with Connor. According to TVLine, this doctor is a South African woman played by “Falling Water” actress Norma Kuhling.

Meanwhile, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) once again work together to diagnose a Syrian refugee. Unfortunately, they do not have his medical records. The promo of the episode shows Natalie wondering if he may have an underlying condition. The two doctors are flying blind in this case.
Elsewhere, Robin is admitted back into the hospital for more complications. The synopsis does not state whether she hurt herself or jumped from the balcony, but either way, she isn’t doing well. This causes Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) to take a different approach to her treatment.
Naturally, Daniel is worried about his daughter and is distracted from work. Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) calls him out and tells him to fight.
The “Chicago Med” Season 2 finale won’t be all gloom and doom. All the doctors and hospital staff reunite when Noah (Roland Buck III) hosts a graduation party.
2. Debate Over Robin’s Treatment Comes To A Head
Connor and Daniel debated over Robin’s treatment last week. This week, however, arguments over how to treat the mentally ill woman will come to a head. In episode 23, issues over Robin’s treatment do get resolved but its repercussions will bleed over Season 5, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“Her condition continues to worsen and then takes a surprising turn,” said executive producer Andrew Schneider to TVGuide. “It is the realization of [Dr. Charles’] worst fears. ... [And] Connor has his own family issues with mental illness. His mother committed suicide. So he's determined at all costs to save Robin and protect her. ... Her illness puts them at odds, in a profound way.”
3. Mastead Is Alive And Well!
A Major shakeup will take place in the love triangle between Will, Natalie and Will’s girlfriend Nina Shore (Patti Murin). Schneider revealed, “There are some big changes in that area that we’ve been hinting at. There’s something that acts as a trigger in the last episode that changes things for Will.”
Given that Murin is headed to Broadway, it’s safe to assume that Nina will be out of the picture very soon.
4. April’s Romance With Dr. Choi Continues
Albeit a bit surprising for most fans, April (Yaya DaCosta) will continue to romance Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).
5. A Cliff-hanger
Unfortunately, the “Chicago Med” Season 2 finale will end on a cliff-hanger and it will be Daniel who will be facing this cliff-hanger.
“Chicago Med” Season 2 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
