Seven men were wounded Sunday afternoon in a drive-by shooting outside a Little Caesars pizza restaurant on Chicago's South Side. Two of the men are reportedly in critical condition.

Police said they are unsure if the shooting was targeted or if there was an argument during the discussion. “Whether it was a targeted shooting or an altercation, it's unacceptable," said Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown at a press conference.

The victims are all males and their ages ranged from 31 to 63. There were about 60 rounds of shots aimed at the victims, according to officials.

It is unclear if there was more than one person who fired the shots. Police believe there could have possibly been two cars involved.

"We're not sure whether the other vehicle just fled because they were shooting or if they were involved at all, so we're running all that down," Brown said.

Police are still searching for the suspects. Brown asked the public to share any information to help in the ongoing investigation.

Chicago is coming off a surge in gun-related deaths in 2021.

There were 3,561 shooting incidents in 2021 -- just over 300 more than in 2020. Chicago in 2021 also had 1,415 more shooting incidents than in 2019, according to figures compiled by police.
