Chicago Shooting: Man Dead, 3 Others Including 5-Year-Old Injured In South Side
A man was fatally shot and three others, including a five-year-old girl, were injured in a shooting that took place at Auburn Gresham neighborhood located in South Side, Chicago, on Tuesday night.
A 37-year-old man, identified as Paul Boyd, was killed at the scene during the shooting. According to the Chicago police and Cook County medical examiner’s office, the man suffered two bullet wounds to the chest and was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center, located at Oak Lawn. However, he was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, a five-year-old girl was also injured during the shooting. She suffered a bullet wound to her foot and was taken to Christ Medical Center in a good condition and is expected to recover.
Sergeant Rocco Alioto, from Chicago Police station, said at least two assailants had walked out of an alley and opened fire at a group of people who were sitting on the front porch of a house located at the 8600 block of South Damen, at around 7:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. EDT).
Two other men were also injured during the incident. A 22-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his right leg, along with a 24-year-old man who suffered two gunshot wounds in each arm. Both of them were being treated at Little Company of Mary Hospital. According to the police, their conditions were said to be stable.
The identities of the surviving victims were not revealed.
Several people in the neighborhood came out of their homes and watched as Area South detectives investigated the crime scene to collect evidence. According to reports, over a dozen evidence markers were placed in front of two homes in the area.
So far, no arrests were made and the case was still under investigation.
