For those of you hoping to score a free Chick-fil-A breakfast next week, your luck just ran out.

After offering customers nationwide a free breakfast entree if they visited the company's reservation site, Chick-fil-A is no longer allowing customers to sign up for the special offer. It was part of its attempt to promote its new breakfast menu -- a ploy that proved to be quite successful.

"More than 1 million customers throughout the country reserved a free breakfast entree for next week," spokesman Mark Baldwin told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, "so we decided to discontinue using the reservation site."

The free entrees will be available for those who successfully signed starting Monday Sept. 9, and they can be claimed through Sept. 14. Though Baldwin said that this specific promotion would not be reopened to the public, he hinted that more giveaways will be occurring in the future.

And for those of you who didn't make the cut this time around, Baldwin shared a few closing words of wisdom for future deals.

"Customers have learned they better participate sooner rather than later," he said. "The early bird gets the chicken."

Maybe next time you'll have the chance to prove him right!
