Chiefs vs. Bills 2020: Prediction, Spread, Odds, Why Patrick Mahomes Will Beat Josh Allen
The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills both suffered their first loss of the 2020 NFL season in Week 5. One of them is almost certain to get back in the win column in Week 6 when they meet Monday in Orchard Park, New York.
The betting line favors the Chiefs on the road by 3.5 points, according to odds compiled by OddsShark. The over/under is 57.5.
Kansas City suffered one of the biggest upsets of the season, losing at home to the Las Vegas Raiders 40-32. Buffalo was blown out by the Tennessee Titans 42-16, losing in the year’s first Tuesday night game.
With two more days to prepare, Andy Reid and the Chiefs are more likely to right this ship in their next game.
Patrick Mahomes probably had one of his worst games in the NFL, posting a mediocre 83.5 passer rating, barely completing more than 50% of his passes. The reigning Super Bowl MVP was sacked three times and threw his first interception of the season.
Buffalo’s defense provides Mahomes a perfect opportunity to return to performing like the NFL’s best quarterback. Ryan Tannehill completed 75% of his attempts for three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills’ Week 5 loss. Buffalo ranks 24th in pass defense, allowing a 103.6 passer rating to opposing signal callers.
The Bills only have two interceptions and rank in the bottom half of the league in sacks. Since holding the lowly New York Jets to 17 points in the season opener, Buffalo has surrendered 31.3 points per game.
Josh Allen is also likely to bounce back from his worst performance of the season, during which he posted season-lows of 263 yards and a 77.6 passer rating. Allen doubled his season interception total with two picks.
Buffalo’s quarterback did get away with a few potential interceptions in the first four weeks and he lost three fumbles. Kansas City is tied for fourth in the NFL with a plus-five turnover differential.
The Chiefs hadn’t allowed more than 20 points in a game before their Week 5 loss. That included a matchup with MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
Kansas City is 12-2 against the spread in its last 14 games. All but one of those victories have come by a touchdown or more.
Prediction: Kansas City over Buffalo, 35-24
