An investigation led to an arrest on Tuesday of a man who convinced young kids to send sex abuse material by pretending to be a young girl, calling himself “Lizzy” online according to investigators.

The man, Sacramento county resident Demetrius Carl Davis, age 24, is suspected of grooming children and having them make pornography for him which resulted in over 80 child victims being identified in the United States. Another 15 to 20 child victims have yet to be identified, many of whom live internationally. The age of these victims ranges from 6 to 13 years of age.

Online, Davis allegedly used the persona of “Lizzy” to engage with and befriend young kids with the intention of grooming them to send illicit videos and pictures between late 2020 and Dec. 2021. This included Davis discussing sexually explicit topics with these children and then showing them child pornography.

One of the more heinous acts, according to Sgt. Rod Grassman, a spokesperson for the Sherrif's office, was that the grooming reportedly escalated to Davis "asking these children to perform sexual acts on their siblings, other relatives and other kids that they know and film it and then send that video" to him.

The Sacramento County Sheriffs' Office began investigating Davis after receiving a tip connecting him to an account suspected of uploading child sex abuse material online. They first executed a search warrant on Dec. 1, 2021, but investigators could not find enough evidence on site to arrest him then.

However, after months of going through screen recordings and electronic devices found during the execution of the search warrant, investigators eventually got enough evidence to secure the arrest on Tuesday. Currently, Davis is being held without bail and it is unclear if he has obtained a lawyer.

Unfortunately, every nine minutes in the U.S. Child Protective Services can substantiate or find evidence for a claim of child sexual abuse. It is estimated by the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network that one in 9 young girls — 82% of whom are under the age of 18 — and 1 in 53 young boys will experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult.
