Childish Gambino-Migos Collaboration Update: ‘Bad And Boujee’ Rappers Confirm Joint Project Is On The Way
It’s been confirmed! Music lovers will be getting a new song from Atlanta rap trio Migos and rapper Childish Gambino.
Two of Migos’ members, Quavo and Offset, announced during a TMZ Live Monday that they will be hitting the studio with Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) for a new track. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when fans can expect the music to drop since it sounds like the joint project is still in the beginning stages.
According to Offset, Migos approached Glover about collaborating shortly after they appeared on an episode of his FX show “Atlanta.” “I told him, we gotta get in the studio. This like the first buildup. We gonna keep building the empire with this and we might as well get in the studio, and he was also with it,” he said. “We didn’t really talk too much detail about how the song gonna be. … it’s on the way, though.”
On Sunday, Glover hinted to a TMZ photographer that he would be recording a song with Migos. The rapper/actor’s brother, Stephen Glover, also hinted at the project telling the photographer, “It’s happening.”
During the 74th Golden Globes, Glover gave a shout-out to Migos while accepting the award for best TV show for a comedy or musical. The actor, who stars as Earnest on the series, thanked the rap group for making the song “Bad and Boujee” and said it was the “best song ever.”
Backstage at the awards show, Glover continued to praise the group telling reporters that he feels Migos are the “Beatles of this generation.”
“They don’t get a lot of respect, I think, outside of Atlanta,” he said, via Billboard. “Not that they don’t get respect, but there’s a generation, sort of like the YouTube generation that I kind of came up with. There’s a generation of kids that are growing up on something that’s completely separate from a whole group of people.”
He continued: “Honestly, that song is just fly. There’s no better song to have sex to.”
