The family and friends of rapper Chinx, formerly known as Chinx Drugz, are getting ready to lay his body to rest. A public wake and funeral will be held on the same day, according to a GoFundMe page created by his loved ones. The musician was fatally shot Sunday in the Jamaica, a neighborhood in the Queens borough of New York City. He was 31.

Chinx, whose real name was Lionel Pickens, left behind three children and a wife. A GoFundMe account has been set up in his name. “A father, husband, son and brother, Chinx leaves behind a legacy of music for his fans. He was truly a great life cut short. As Chinx' extended family, please consider helping out his family during this devastating time. This fund will be established to provide some financial support for the tough road ahead,” part of the statement read. “Instead of sending flowers, please consider helping the family fill part of the financial void. Your donations will help provide much needed financial stability to a family who deserves so much more than what they have been dealt. We cannot replace the warmth, charisma, wit, charm, and love that Chinx gave to not only his family, and friends, but also, his fans. We can however, help keep them focused on what really matters, and that is each other.”

With more than 3,700 Facebook shares, the site noted this is the “one and only” official donation page. It has been able to raise nearly $12,000 from 86 donors in two days. The family has a goal of $20,000.
