Chris Brown to Perform at Grammys Under 'Watchful Eye' of Probation Officer
Almost three years ago, singer Chris Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna so badly that she couldn't perform at the Grammy awards. On Sunday, Brown is set to give his own performance at the Grammys, but regardless of his recent good behavior, a judge ruled that he would continue serving his five-year probation sentence.
Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos was denied his request to end Brown's supervised probation period early. Geragos told Superior Court Judge George Lomeli that Brown had been truthful with officers and passed all required drug tests, the New York Daily News reported. He has completed half of the six months' worth of roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and other manual labor that he was ordered to do after pleading guilty to attacking Rihanna, Geragos told the judge who denied Brown early clearance saying he would remain under the watchful eye of a probation officer, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Despite being denied his freedom, the singer has made a remarkable comeback, nominated for three Grammy awards including, best R&B album. His comeback record F.A.M.E' released in March went straight to number one on the billboard charts.
Meanwhile, the singer has been surrounded by rumors of reconciliation with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. A source told Life and Style magazine that Rihanna had gone to visit Brown in his studio in December. She stopped by his studio recently--twice. She's also calling and texting him a lot. She won't let go, the source said.
On Dec. 29, Rihanna tweeted, Miss+love u . Brown tweeted Love U more than u Know, just minutes later Rihanna responded I'll always love u #1LOVE.
Skeptics say neither Rihanna, nor Brown tagged one another in the tweets and therefore the incident could have been a mere coincidence. If the tweets are legitimate and the couple really are harboring feelings for one another, then things could get complicated. First, Brown has a girlfriend. He is dating model Karrueche Tran and according to Life and Style's source, he is happy in his relationship but it is Rihanna who is playing games and trying to split it up for his girlfriend.
Rihanna holds a partial restraining order against Brown. In 2009, the rapper was accused of a domestic assault again his girlfriend who was left with visible injuries after the incident. The restraining order is in place until 2014 following the court ruling.
