Chris Evans was so impressed with one young boy’s bravery that he is sending him a reward.
The “Captain America” star will be sending a Captain America shield to a 6-year-old boy named Bridger Walker after he saved his younger sister from a dog attack. The boy’s story moved Evans, so he sent Bridger a video message.
“I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot over the last couple of the days, but let me be the next one to tell you: Pal, you’re a hero,” Evans said in a video shared by Bridger’s aunt, Nicole Noel Walker, on Instagram.
“What you did was so brave, so selfless, your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you,” he continued and promised the boy a Captain America shield.
“I’m gonna send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal you deserve it. Keep being the man you are, we need people like you. Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there’s much that can slow you down.”
Nicole’s post on Instagram with Evans has garnered over one million views already. In the caption, she wrote, “Conversation with Captain America. There are no words. We are so, so thankful.”
Several netizens were very happy for Evans’ effort to reach out to the kid. Bridger’s dad also commented on Nicole’s post to thank the “Captain America” actor.
“Cap, thank you so much for putting a smile on my little boy’s face! Our original goal of getting just one or two words of encouragement from Bridger’s heroes has been blown away! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Robert wrote.
According to Variety, Nicole shared the video about her nephew’s story on social media to reach out to the cast of “Avengers” for support. She explained that Bridger needed 90 stitches after protecting his sister from a “charging dog” on July 9.
“After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me,’” Nicole shared.
“We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks,” Nicole added.
A skilled doctor did Bridger’s stitches and he is currently recovering at home.
