Chris Hemsworth, who portrays the character of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is turning out to be a real-life hero for a person who survived the Manchester bombing in 2017. More than 20 people were killed and over 800 were left injured after the bombing incident at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester Arena that year.
In a special video message sent to “The Morning Show,” the 36-year-old actor invited a survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing to attend the premiere of the highly anticipated “Thor: Love And Thunder.”
Martin Hibbert, who suffered spinal injuries in the attack, will be walking alongside Hemsworth on the red carpet of the upcoming movie. The “Extraction” star met Hibbert in Australia when he went there to get his treatment for the injuries he endured in the horrifying attack.
The esteemed actor started the message by saying that the time he spent with Hibbert was truly “inspiring.” He further stated that not everyone can stay “positive” after facing such challenges, but his attitude toward life even after the attack was “incredible.”
“Hi Martin, I hope you are doing well buddy. I just wanted to say the time that we spent together in Australia was truly inspiring. To meet someone who had faced such adversity and such dramatic challenges, but to see someone like yourself with such a positive attitude was incredible,” Hemsworth said.
The “In The Heart Of The Sea” actor concluded the video by sharing that he cannot wait to walk the red carpet with Hibbert.
Hibbert, who was present when the clip was played, revealed that the acclaimed star invited him to the film’s premiere, which is set to happen next year. Hibbert was left paralyzed after the attack and is now regaining some movement in his legs.
“I told [Hemsworth] that we should maybe meet up when he is over in London. His latest 'Thor' film was due out in 2021, so he said if I am walking in 2021, we would walk down the red carpet at 'Thor 4' in London,” Hibbert said.
The plot of the upcoming “Thor” film is currently being kept under wraps. The story will be significant because the film will mark Jane Foster’s (Natalie Portman) transition to be the next God of Thunder.
Meanwhile, Christian Bale will play the villain in the upcoming movie.
