Being the tourism ambassador for Australia does have its benefits. “Thor: Ragnarok” star Chris Hemsworth recently treated his wife, Elsa Pataky, and four of their friends to a getaway in Queensland’s Orpheus Island when he celebrated his 34th birthday this month.

Hemsworth posted several gorgeous photos of the island on his Instagram account, which showed the group enjoying various activities such as paddle boarding, waterside dining and a chartered helicopter flight. They even explored secluded beaches.

Tourism Australia’s managing director John O’Sullivan really appreciated Hemsworth’s posts, which reached 11.1 million social media followers. “Personal photos shared by Chris enjoying quality family time against iconic backdrops such as Uluru, the Kimberley, the Whitsundays and The Great Barrier Reef are tourism gold for us,” he told the Courier Mail.

Meanwhile, another thing that Hemsworth is busy promoting on his Instagram is his upcoming Marvel movie, “Thor: Ragnarok,” which reunites his character Thor with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). The movie also introduces him to other exciting characters such as the formidable villainess Hela (Cate Blanchett), young warrior Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban).

The Australian hunk guaranteed that the new movie will have a different tone compared to the first two “Thor” films. Hemsworth described the film to Empire as “not feeling so otherworldly, with more of a contemporary personality and sense of humor.” Due to this, Hemsworth admitted it’s “probably the most fun I’ve had on a Marvel film,” what with their hilarious ad libs and witty improvisations.

Meanwhile, Marvel President Kevin Feige said “Thor: Ragnarok” will be the last movie in the “Thor” franchise, and it will lead straight to the story of “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“I think that we are finding ourselves as we complete Phase 3 and finish this 22-movie narrative that it’s working out that way,” he told the Toronto Sun. “We did three ‘Iron Man’ films, three ‘Captain America’ films, three ‘Thor’ films. Things change drastically in ‘Ragnarok’ and then build directly into ‘Infinity War.’”

“Thor: Ragnarok,” which is directed by Taika Waititi, will be released on Nov. 3.
